Bouncy Castles - FAQs
General FAQs
What are bouncy castles made of?
BeBop bouncy castles are made of nylon, which means they are much lighter than a PVC funfair bouncy castle. They can easily be maneuvered by one person and transported between family gardens.
Can adults jump in bouncy castles?
We would not recommend that adults jump on bouncy castles. Our bouncy castles are made for children between the ages of 3-10, however, young children can be accompanied by an adult if there are no other children present. It’s important that the maximum weight limit per user of 38kg and the maximum height per user of 145cm is not exceeded to ensure safe play.
How many children can bounce at the same time?
A maximum of 5 children can safely bounce on a bouncy castle at the same time.
How dangerous are bouncy castles?
Bouncy castles are a much safer alternative to a trampoline. To be safe, young children should be supervised at all times, and no more than 5 children should bounce at the same time.
Which Bouncy Castle has the largest bounce area?
The bouncy castle which has the largest bouncy area is the BeBop Star Palace. This item also has the largest capacity – up to 5 children. All of our products show the detailed specifications next to the product pictures.
Can I hire my BeBop Bouncy Castle, or use it at my public house or business?
No - BeBop Inflatable products are manufactured and tested for home use only, they hold no certification for commercial use or use in public and should not be used for these purposes. Even hiring out to a ‘home’ environment is not permitted and could invalidate any insurance you may hold and will invalidate your warranty with BeBop.
Set Up FAQS
How much space do you need for a bouncy castle?
You must have at least a 2 meter perimeter in your garden around the bouncy castle, free of obstructions to allow for safe play.
Does a bouncy castle have to be on a flat surface?
We would recommend setting up your bouncy castle on a flat surface, however, a slight slope should not be a problem. If you are concerned about setting up your bouncy castle, our friendly team will be able to help you.
How long does it take to set up a bouncy castle?
Setting up a bouncy castle takes less than ten minutes. BeBop bouncy castles can be inflated in less than two minutes and can be easily stored in their own carry bag.
How much electricity does a bouncy castle use?
Our inflatable bouncy castles run on a constant airflow from an electric fan, which uses about as much electricity as a powerful hairdryer or a small microwave.
Can I set up a bouncy castle when it’s windy?
We would not recommend setting up a bouncy castle in winds over 15 mph. This is a potential safety hazard, as our bouncy castles are lightweight.
How big is a bouncy castle?
Our bouncy castles come in a range of different sizes, starting from 285cm (L) x 235cm (W) x 185cm (H). If you need further information on the size of our bouncy castles, we’ll be happy to help.
How heavy are bouncy castles?
As our bouncy castles are made from nylon, they are super lightweight and easy to transport. They come with their own bag, so that you can easily store your bouncy castle in your garage or shed.
Can you put up a bouncy castle on gravel?
No, we would not recommend putting up a bouncy castle on gravel. A grassy area is recommended, in order to keep your children safe.
Can you put a bouncy castle indoors?
No, this is not safe and could damage the interior of your home.
Will a bouncy castle ruin the grass?
During the hot summer months, a bouncy castle may ruin your grass if left up for long periods of time. However, BeBop bouncy castles only take 10 minutes to dismantle and put away, so you can keep your grass looking healthy.
My BeBop Bouncy Castle feels a bit soft, is it faulty?
First, refer to the instructions provided and check your Bouncy Castle is set up correctly, make sure that the small outlet tube* is tied up tight throughout use. The item has a long material tube that you attach to the fan, and a small tube that should be tied up tight. This small outlet is to aid deflation. Don’t worry, air will escape through the seams of the inflatable and small holes made in the material.
BeBop Bouncy Castles are domestic inflatables and they will feel different to a bouncy castle that you may have hired or used at a public event. Domestic inflatables are made from lighter material and won’t feel as solid when fully inflated. Areas of low air volume such as beams and the basketball hoop will feel softer and easy to bed or squash. This is normal and nothing to worry about.
*smaller BeBop models may not have an outlet.
The netting and beams don’t seem rigid like a hired Bouncy Castle, is there a problem?
BeBop Bouncy Castles are made for the domestic market and are not the same type of product that you may have seen at an event or hired. The netting and beams are not meant to be solid, and are not to be leant on or bounced against, the beams will be soft and easy to bend.
Can I install a bouncy castle on artificial grass?
We provide plastic stakes with all of our inflatables but they may not be suitable for artificial grass. You can use water or sand bags to anchor the item down, or purchase metal tent pegs which may be a more suitable alternative, but it is important that the item must be safely secured in place before play.
Unfortunately as we do not provide any anchoring alternatives, we cannot provide advice on what would be a suitable product for you individually.
My Bouncy Castle has 2 tubes, can I connect a second fan?
The item will have a long material tube that you attach to the blower fan, and a small material tube that should be tied up tight. This outlet is to aid deflation and must not be attached to a second fan. The fan provided is specific to the item, and you must not use any other inflating aids or higher wattage fans to inflate your garden bouncy castle.
Do all BeBop Inflatables come with the fan?
Yes, all new BeBop inflatables are supplied with the electric fan, anchor pegs, carry bag and repair patches. You don’t need to purchase anything else to get started.
Do you have to keep the fan on at all times?
BeBop Bouncy Castles run with a continual airflow, which means the fan must be switched on at all times the item is in use.
Is the fan noisy?
The noise is similar to that of a hairdryer. All of our customer feedback regarding the noise the fan makes has been positive.
I can feel air coming from the Bouncy Castle is this normal and I can hear a squeaking noise?
As BeBop Inflatable Castles run through a continual air flow, the only way for air to escape is through the seams, and small 'pin' holes in the fabric. These small holes are made in the material at the point of manufacture to relieve excess pressure. In areas of higher pressure, you may hear a wheeze, whistle or even a squeak and you will also feel more air escaping in some areas, this is completely normal operation.
How long is the inlet tube that connects to the fan and does this have to be straight?
The length of the inlet tube is roughly 1.9 meters, and the material tube must be straight to avoid restricting the airflow.
Weather FAQs
Can you put up a bouncy castle in the rain?
No, we would not advise putting up a bouncy castle in the rain, as the slippery surface will become a safety hazard. You should only put up your bouncy castle in dry weather.
Are bouncy castle blowers waterproof?
No, the bouncy castle blower should be disconnected from the electrical supply during wet weather.
Can I leave my BeBop Inflatable outside overnight?
No, the bouncy castle must be dried out and stored away indoors after each use. Tip out any excess water from the splashpool and any water collected inside the item, connect the fan to the long inlet tube and untie the short outlet tube, leave to dry for up to 2 hours (depending on the weather) and then pack the inflatable away in a cool dry place.
We are having a period of hot, dry weather, why can’t I leave my inflatable outdoors in the summer?
Your BeBop Inflatable is made from Nylon with a thin PVC lining and as with all materials, if deflated and left wet, or left outdoors for a sustained period, the material and stitching will weaken and rot causing irreparable damage. Even in nice weather, it can be very damp at night and early in the morning. This means the material is sitting in the damp for a long period of time.
Maintenance FAQs
What warranty or guarantee is supplied with my BeBop Bouncy Castle?
We provide a 6 month manufacturing warranty on the inflatable itself and a 12 month warranty on the electric fan. This covers you for defects at the point of manufacture. We would expect any defects to show within 6 months of purchase. We would class a manufacturing defect as a seam or stitching failure, or the fan malfunctioning. Accidental damage, rips or tears will not be covered, but we can still assist in resolving any of these issues.
How do you fix a bouncy castle?
If your bouncy castle is damaged, it will be covered by our 6 month warranty. We will ask for photographic evidence of the damage to determine the repairs needed. Where possible, we will replace any faulty components and repair the product, rather than replacing the whole item. If we are unable to repair the item, then a replacement will be issued.
How do you clean a bouncy castle?
We recommend that the item is cleaned using a soft bristled brush and water to clean the surface of your bouncy castle. We would not recommend using any type of detergent or chemicals as this could cause irreparable damage to the inflatable.
You can also hose down the bouncy castle. If there is large amounts of grass left on the bouncy castle, you could use your hoover on a low setting to remove the debris.
How do you store a bouncy castle?
BeBop bouncy castles come in their own storage bag. They can be easily put up and dismantled within ten minutes, and safely stored in the carry bag. It's important that the item is stored away dry in a cool dry place to keep the material in good condition.
How do you find a hole in a bouncy castle?
BeBop inflatables are supplied with a self adhesive repair patch kit for small punctures or rips. We can also facilitate a paid repair service whereby we would arrange to have the item inspected at our warehouse and if we feel a repair is possible a price will be discussed before sending to the repair centre. The cost of sending the item to us would need to be covered by you but the inspection will be free of charge.
I have unpacked my bouncy castle after storing it for a while and it now has mould on it, how can I get rid of this?
Although it is not a common problem for the product to gather mould, it can happen if the item is not dried correctly and packed away indoors after every use. The item is made from Nylon, and as with all materials, if left wet, or left outdoors for a sustained period, this may occur. We would recommend that the item is cleaned using a soft bristled brush and water only. Unfortunately, we would not recommend using any type of detergent on the material including mould remover. This could cause more damage to the material.
